Deck the Halls Coffee Shop

It has been a hot minute hasn’t it!? I have been taking a lot of down time during December to just relax with friends and family and to also get ready for the New Year. I have a lot of fun stuff coming to Basic Blogger B*tch and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Even though I am in holiday relaxation mode I didn’t forget about you all, in fact I am going to be sharing one of my favourite holiday coffee shops with you guys today!

Deck the Halls Coffee Shop also known as Fiction Coffee the rest of the year, is literally one of my favourite places to chill at during December. They completely change their regular decor to look like a magical Christmas cottage and it gives you all the Christmas-y feels.

Lets start with the wall outside. This is literally any influencer/blogger’s dream, to be honest it’s anyone with a cameras dream. You can’t not want a picture with it!

Can we also just take a minute to admire this decor inside? I feel like I am in Mrs. Clause’s house every time I walk in. I would honestly be there everyday if I could!!

Take a look at this holiday menu you guys. Those names are E V E R Y T H I N G am I right?! My personal fave is the Falala-Latte(The second picture) it tastes like Christmas in a cup.

If you live in Dallas I 1000% recommend stopping in because you will never want to leave once you do ;) It will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit. DTHCS is open everyday leading up to Christmas Day and their last day is the 31st, so you can go anytime between now and then.

As always if you have any questions or comments leave them down below or hit me up on any of my socials, I love talking to you guys so don’t be shy ;)

I hope you are all having a wonderful December so far!

East Meets West

Hey Babes!

Today’s post is one I have been SO excited to write and I have been dying to get it up for you guys to read! I hope you love it as much as I loved working on it!

As many of you know I am half Pakistani and American/Canadian, if you didn’t then SURPRISE! I decided to answer some of the MOST asked question I get about being Pakistani, religious views, visiting Pakistan, etc. So lets get into it!

Are You Muslim?

Yes! My whole family(mom, dad, brother) are Muslim. People find it really hard to believe that my mom and I are Muslim, I guess because she’s white and I look more white than Pakistani? I don’t know but we 100% are!

Why Don’t You Wear the Hijab?

Honestly if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this I’d be rich you guys! I have just never felt like I needed to wear it and neither did my parents. I definitely don’t have any hate to girls who do, if that’s something they feel like they want to do then more power to them!

Have You Ever Been To Pakistan?

Yes yes yes! I love visiting. My fam tries to take a trip every year or two to visit if we can. I wish we could go more often honestly but we are super blessed to be able to visit as much as we do.

Have You Ever Experienced Racism For Being Pakistani/Muslim?

So I have been really fortunate and can say that I personally haven’t. I know some of my friends have had some bad experiences and it definitely does happen. I have only ever had a few racist comments on some Youtube videos and posts but nothing too bad and never to my face.

What is Your Favourite Pakistani Dish?

This is literally the hardest question out of all of these! Um if I had to pick I would say Haleem or Biryani. Snack wise definitely Samosas or Pakoras. It’s honestly so hard to choose :P

This was literally one of my favourite posts to work on you guys! Thank you to everyone who sent questions and if I didn’t answer yours feel free to hit me up on any of my socials and I definitely will!

I want to give a huge shoutout to Dafa Hoja for sending me this PERF hoodie! I am 1000% obsessed with it. I am also working on an awesome project with them that I cannot wait to share with you guys!

I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

A Beginners Guide for Reaching Out to Brands

Hi Guys!

Let me just start by saying this has got to be the MOST requested post E V E R! I have gotten countless DMs and messages telling me to write this post so I am finally delivering ;)

I remember when I was first starting out the thought of pitching brands and companies seemed so overwhelming and let me just say it IS NOT that hard or complicated. If you follow these tips you will be pitching to everyone with no stress or fear. Lets get into how to pitch brands!

Finding the Right Contact

This is a really simple step that will save you a lot of time and will make sure your pitch lands in the inbox of the appropriate person. Make sure you go the website of whatever brand or company you are reaching out to and find their PR email. If you send your pitch to their generic email there is a good possibility it will just get lost in the many emails they get daily.

Writing Your Pitch

Your pitch is your one shot to get the brand/company’s attention which means you want to stand out. Make sure you keep it short and sweet, no one wants to read paragraph after paragraph of information, basically you want to tell them what a great fit you think you would be but not waste their time. Here is what a typical pitch to a brand would like from me,

My name is Alex Ashraf, I run the lifestyle blog The Basic Blogger B*tch, you can see the website here combined following is over xxxx amount currently, with X amount on Instagram alone . I would love to work with you on a post for my website and socials as I think we would be a great fit. I have also attached my media kit for you to have a look at to get a better idea of my stats and what I have to offer. If you're interested I look forward to talking more.

I try to keep most of my information in my media kit as to not clutter up the email. Speaking of media kits.

Create a Media Kit/Press Kit

The best thing I ever did was make myself a BOMB media kit to attach with my pitches. Media Kits make brands and companies take you so much more seriously in my experience. They also keep all your stats, numbers, previous work with other brands, and other information from cluttering up the initial pitch. You can make your media kit on Canva, which is what I use and it is SO easy, if you don’t want to make it yourself you can find someone to make it for you and it shouldn’t cost that much. My friends have had them made for as little as $15-$20.

Don’t Be Afraid to Follow Up

I have had so many of my friends tell me they want to follow up with a brand after not getting a response and I always tell them DO IT! I have gotten some of the best jobs after following up with the company. Sometimes your email simply slips their mind or isn’t seen and there is nothing wrong with following up, as long as you don’t go crazy and send them like 100 emails I definitely recommend it. I personally like to send my follow up after a week from the initial email.

Be Prepared For Rejection

It doesn’t matter how big you and your blog are or how small we ALL GET REJECTED. It doesn’t mean your blog is terrible or that you will never get work it just means you weren’t a good fit for that company or brand. You will find companies and brands who see the value in you and your blog and those are who you want to work with. I definitely understand how crushing rejection can be but you just have to remember your value and keep your chin up.

I am by no means an expert at this, these are just things I have implemented that have worked for me. I am 100% still learning and navigating being a full time blogger but I hope that these tips can help some of you guys feel more confident with reaching out to companies and brands!

As always if you have any questions feel free to leave them down below in the comments or hit me up on any of my socials! I love talking to you guys so don’t be shy ;)

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend,
